Our Appalachian Spring honey is produced from apiaries situated on the edge of South Mountain, just below the Appalachian Trail, using nectar primarily from Black Locust and Tulip Poplar trees. We feature our honey in decorative corked jars that are reusable in both 8oz and 16oz sizes. We also stock a plain 16oz jar as well.

This honey is produced naturally and strained, not pasteurized. It will not go bad, but it may granulate. To liquify, put jar in hot, not boiling, water for several minutes. Enjoy the sweetness!

Our brooms are handmade by P.J. Gilligan using 19th century equipment. The broom corn is applied to the pole using wire and a nail.

Broom Making Table

Then the broom is placed in a vise to flatten the broom corn. A large metal needle passes string back and forth through the broom corn weaving a pattern to hold the corn in place.

Our shirts are hand-made by Alice’s Cottage from 100% cotton, preshrunk for a lasting fit! They have a single banded color and are buttoned down the entire face.

Our throws are from Catoctin Creek Farms. They are woven on overshot looms in the Double Whig Rose pattern popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. The warp (yarn held lengthwise, taut in the loom) is cotton and the weft (weaved over and under the warp) is wool from Romney sheep raised on Catoctin Creek Farm.
